Wargaming Unity Training Course

Battle tanks was a hybrid of an on-rails shooter and base builder game that we worked on as a team. I used these familiar assets as a base to construct a training program for the team so that I could teach them how to build interactive UI prototypes in Unity during a 3 day course.

Company: Wargaming. Role: Senior UI/UX Artist

What was the project?

As part of my role as Senior UI/UX Artist at Wargaming, I was tasked with creating prototypes to test out ideas and potential user flows in Unity that could then be passed over to our dev teams to use as templates for the games themselves, or to pitch solutions to our Producers and Art Directors.

I took the initiative to share my skills in Unity and took the opportunity to give a three-day training course to my team with the aim of teaching them how to use Unity to create prototypes, test user flows, and add in assets so that they are able to test their work without the need to go through developers, potentially saving time and resources.

Overall we started with the very basics of the Unity UI structure, from Canvas’s and frames, and moved up to scene creation and transitions, buttons and animations so that the UI team were able to create fully interactive presentations of one of the games we were in the process of developing so that we had some real-world relevance to the course and it’s outcome.
